This post is not technical, education, nor will there be a lesson by the end of it. If you’re an SEO on LinkedIn, I am sure you’ll be able to relate with the ridiculous profiles that are about to follow.
Keep in mind, this is satire… So if your profile is featured by mistake from what I’ve perceived to be ‘fake’ then I am sorry and I will remove it. Otherwise, fair game I say!
There is a ton of fake SEO profiles on LinkedIn
I am sure this is not an SEO specific problem, but I little perspective on other industries. What I can say is that I get a request to network from somebody clearly misrepresenting themselves at least once per day.
Below are some examples:
Here we have Darcy Kent:
- Caucasian descent
- Lives in India
- Studied at the University of St Andrews in Scotland.
Next is Karol Gercia:
- Another young woman from India
- Studied at Upper Canada College
- Works at Freelancer.com
Fake!
Mr Bobbie Lopez is next
- Looks like a high school school photo on picture day
- Lives in India
- Also works at Freelancer.com

Here is Jessica Scott
- Another young woman with a very generic name
- Lives in India
- Studied at the University of Louisville
- Works at Linkmozzo with high profile clients such as ExxonMobil, at&t, oracle, Berkshire Hathaway, and of course… WordPress
At least Jessica Scott went the extra mile and created a custom cover photo for her profile.
Hello Kennedy Torres
- Another young white male with a great smile
- Lives in India
- Studied at North Park University in Chicago
Being an SEO Manager at Freelancer.com is always a giveaway. FAKE!
Welcome to my post Alyana Daniel
- Young Asian girl
- From Pakistan
- Works at SEO
I think this one is fake.
Woah.. It’s Ellis Bevan!
- On second glance, it’s actually Welsh actor Tom Ellis from the TV show Lucifer
- From the United States
- Works at Raheel.com which is a dead website.
At first when Tom Ellis offered me guest posting services, I was pretty psyched… but then I realized it was too good to be true. Fake.
The King of Pop, Mickle Jackson?
Basically everything is wrong with this invitation.
This was definitely my favourite invitation to connect and the inspiration for this post… so thank you Mickle.
Thanks for reading!
